Hello everyone, Unfortunate news - due to a lack of participants, it was determined last night that there will be no Tuesday night Ladies' League at the Hope Curling Club this season. This news saddens me greatly as it represents yet another decline in our numbers of active curlers and further exacerbates the financial challenges that our Club faces for its survival. After a discussion with our Thursday night curlers last week and in response to this latest news, I have decided to change Thursday night Mixed League to an OPEN LEAGUE with no requirement for equal male/female representation on each team. It is my expectation that the majority of teams will still be "mixed", however, I am seeking the addition and creation of teams of any make-up to grow our program on Thursday night. I encourage any of the Ladies' teams (full or partial) from Tuesday night to join us on Thursday, as well as all others interested in curling but not yet registered on a team for this season. It is my sincere hope to see that EVERYONE who wants to curl has an opportunity to get out on the ice and have some fun. Please note that it was agreed amongst us last Thursday night that we are out there just to have a good time, so please don't feel intimidated to join us - none of us are that good! I am looking for more curlers for Thursday night's Mixed League. Currently, there are 5 teams taking shape but I would dearly love to have an even number of teams, i.e. 6, or of course 8 would be ideal! Please let me know ASAP if you are interested in curling on Thursday nights (or know of anyone who is interested). We will take full teams, partial teams, individuals, seasoned pros, complete newbies and everyone in between - everyone is welcome at the Hope Curling Club!

As a point of interest: Are any of you, or anyone you know, interested in curling but unable to commit to the full season because you are planning to go south this winter? Would any of you "snowbirds" be interested in curling half a season until Christmas break? Nothing has been decided yet, but I am trying to explore different ideas to accommodate as many curlers as possible and to get more bodies into the rink! Please let me know if you and/or anyone you know would participate in a half season.

By last report, Monday Men's League is short a few curlers to round out an 8 team draw, and Tuesday Ladies' League is looking for more curlers as well.
